Description: The first lap of the Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookie Cup race at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.
This is an interesting new series in 2008. All riders are between 13-16 years old. It's a spec series using 125cc KTM bikes. From what I understand there are several races here in the U.S. with a U.S. championship race to be held in Indianapolis. The winners then move on to a race in Velincia Spain.
Each racer had to apply, then went through brief training at Barber Motorsports park in Alabama. Those that were chosen to compete were assigned a bike, and a mechanic who stays with them throughout the year. Seems like a great opportunity for younger kids to get a start in AMA racing.
