Action could be taken against a mad Chinese woman who has refused to move a mock nuclear missile advertising her company from beside the A1M. In November, Sedgefield Borough Council asked Ling Valentine to move a 1970's Chinese Nuclear Decontamination Truck and replica rocket advertising her car company from beside the motorway, near Sedgefield.
The authority made its request (request??? - Ling) as part of a Government crackdown (by 2 Jags Prescott - Ling) on roadside advertising, which ministers say distracts drivers and clutters up the countryside.
Ling has refused to move the truck, claiming that the river which surrounds the field has become too high to drive the vehicle through and the bank has become too muddy. The truck was driven into the field in July and Ling says that the river has become much deeper since then.
Charlie Wheelan, head of planning surveys at Sedgefield Council said: "We are taking this issue very seriously. We are considering taking a report to the development control committee in due course unless our instructions are carried out"
