Galls brand headlight wig wag flasher

Here's another video of the Wigwags at Brightside, with a Skunk Train M200 railbus this time. You can see the wigwag start up and wind down. You'll also hear the engineer of the M200 correctly signal --.- (long, long, short, long) at both crossings. If you look closely, the wigwags start up and wind down twice, due to the way they are triggered by the very short railbus.

An Unusual stop for me. I was on a road trip when I stopped by the North Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire and caught this wigwag in action. This news story ran in San Francisco on January 26, 2002. The local railroad (BNSF) wanted to remove these old crossing signals and upgrade the crossing. The city said 'no way'. Residents actually showed up downtown and protested the railroad. Interesting news story... The signals have since been deactivated but.... more

There are working wigwags along Niles Canyon Railway, two of them at a crossing just west of Brightside Yard. Excursion train pulled by Western Pacific F7 #918-D with a GP7 #713 on the end cruises on by with this scene reminiscent of railroading decades ago. The big rig truck-like horn sounds are coming from the F7, and I'm not sure F units are supposed to sound like that!
