A Soyuz spacecraft has blasted off from the Baykonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, taking Malaysia's first cosmonaut into space. Sheikh Muzaphar Shukor joins two professional space crew on the 16th mission to the ISS. Dr Shukor will spend 11 days in orbit, carrying out scientific experiments.

Scientists at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan are making final preparations for Wednesday's launch of a Soyuz craft to the International Space Station. The 16th expedition is made up of two professional crew members - a Russian and an American - and Malaysia's first space tourist.
