After a very long time of not catching a freight on the Coast Line, I was determined to catch one. Tonight was my chance and I took full advantage of it. UP C41-8W #9535 leads a baretable train south with a rather odd sounding K3LA.

Pepper Ave. overpass on the east side of Union Pacific's West Colton Yard is a great place to watch trains. UP's newest GEVO's (#7717 and #7703) are on the point for the two trains I saw at different times. Along with the ubiquitous SD70M's, you'll also see a Dash 9 (UP #9642, ex-SP #8178), two-window SD60M (#2516), and a Dash 8, C41-8W #9509.

This day's detour (as well as a few before it) added another method to the rerouting madness. This train will take the Union Pacific Harvard Subdivision from Janesville to Chicago, instead of the WSOR's Fox Lake Subdivision.
